Information

Reliable detection of nail fungus antigens PreventID® Dermatophyte is an immunological rapid test for the qualitative detection of nail fungus antigens in sample material from toenails or fingernails and serves as an aid in the diagnosis of infections with nail fungus. For the rapid test, a sample of the nail surface or detached parts of the fingernail or toenail is taken and placed in an extraction solution. The nail sample is crushed using a stirring rod. After 1 minute, the test strip is placed in the tube and the test result can be read after just 5 minutes. Your advantages - Discreet, location-independent test performance and evaluation - Qualitative detection of nail fungus antigens within 5 minutes - Nail fungus infection can be detected at an early stage Avoiding unnecessary therapy for nail fungus Nail fungus is an infectious disease of the toenails or fingernails. The disease is usually caused by filamentous fungi such as Trichophytum rubrum, which destroy affected nails. A fungal nail infection can affect any part of the nail unit, including the nail plate, the nail matrix and the nail bed. Toenails are usually more affected than fingernails due to the warm and humid environment in shoes. Infected nails often become brittle and turn white or yellow-brownish in color. The fungal infection can also lead to a thickening of the nail plate. In Europe and North America, between 14-18% of people suffer from nail fungus. Confirmation by means of a rapid test helps to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary treatment. Treatment options include antifungal preparations, laser therapy, photodynamic therapy and surgical removal. With appropriate treatment, the prognosis is good, but recurrences are not uncommon and often occur within 3 years of completing treatment.
