Veinoflow SCD Intermittent Pneumatic Compression System
The Veinoflow SCD is a non-invasive and effective mechanical prophylaxis system designed to reduce the incidence of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) during various types of major surgeries, including orthopedic, trauma, urological, and general surgery. Additionally, it is suitable for use with other patient groups, such as those in neurology, critical care, general medicine, and obstetrics.
This system operates by providing compression to a limb through calf or leg garments. The Veinoflow SCD aids in preventing thrombus formation by increasing blood velocity in the deep veins, thereby reducing stasis and stimulating fibrinolysis – the body's natural method of preventing and breaking down clots.
Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (IPC) not only serves as an effective method for DVT prevention but also offers additional clinical benefits. Studies have demonstrated its capability to reduce edema and postoperative pain, enhance circulation, aid in wound healing, provide a drier post-operative field, and decrease the likelihood of wound hematoma.
