Information

The Expersus stem is a hip stem prosthesis that allows either the cemented or the cementless version of the stem to be inserted with one set of instruments. In the cemented version, the Expersus stem is made of implant steel (5832-9) and is equipped with a 12/14 taper. The stem can be combined with both metal and ceramic femoral heads. The cemented Expersus hip stem has a smooth satin finish. The neck area is completely polished. For the different femoral anatomies of the patients, nine sizes are available for the 125° variant and ten sizes for the 135° variant. In the cementless version, the Expersus stem is made of a titanium Ti6Al4V (ISO 5832-3) and is equipped with a 12/14 cone. The stem can be combined with both metal and ceramic femoral heads. The cementless Expersus hip stem is fully coated with a titanium plasma spray and hydroxyl apatite coating except for the polished neck area. The coating accelerates the attachment of the bone to the implant and thus supports stable long-term anchorage. For both the cemented and cementless versions, this results in a broad spectrum for reconstructing the natural joint geometry based on the biomechanical parameters of centre of rotation, leg length and CCD angle.
