Japanese immunology, biochemistry and healthcare pioneer, Cellspect, has developed highly portable, point-of-care-testing (POCT) that enable multiple blood testing parameters to be screened for simultaneously. Basic biochemical tests such as ‘sugar metabolism’, ‘lipid’ and ‘liver function’ can be easily measured with just a single droplet of blood from the patient’s finger, and the device itself, in a simple to use, compact and portable form for ease of deployment and use in remote areas and rural settings. In 2019, we began a collaboration with Cellspect to speed up the delivery of these low-cost, POCT devices to developing markets.
